Dheryneia is the nearest village to Famagusta, where the gorgeous, golden beach only lays 2km away.
Where it’s name comes from no-one yet knows, after the 2nd world war 1939-1945 there was a large increase in the economy where houses, schools and churches were built, at the time the population was around 800 habitants, the village was named ” kato Dheryneia” where 70% is now under the Turkish occupation.
Dheryneia is well known for their farmers. One of their main crops are strawberries, where they even have a strawberry festival. |
